Waves of love:

In the last day of the retreat several friends shared a deep gratitude to Swaha for all that he has shared with us these weeks. The thankfulness also included all the beautiful people that have helped make this wonderful retreat happen. We leave with new friendships, a whole new family and a readiness to embrace the new.

In the afternoon the children performed their play for us and Swaha - who turned up as a surprise guest. With forceful tropical rain and exploding thunder, it was a magical celebration of dance, music and masquerade. Even Swaha joined in the children's play and dance.

"This is a new beginning" he said as he left, leaving us with hearts full of eternal gratitude.

Waves of love:

Today, as we come out of silence, there is a feeling of new life, of celebration and joy.

As we have opened up to ourselves during these weeks of silence, we also have opened up to each other. It is like we now can meet from a deeper place in ourselves, and we are ready to welcome these soft, open, honest eyes of beloved friends.

After having shared this time of aloneness there is now a sense of intimacy. One big beautiful family!

Waves of love:

"When will you stop fighting and give up? You are never going to win. Just relax." These were our Beloved's last words to us in Satsang today.

Several couples shared their gratitude for being reminded to give each other space in the silence. Silence allows us to come back to ourselves, in tune again. And from this space, we can also look at our partners with new eyes and see the beauty and love more clearly. It can even make us long to get closer again.

This is how life is. Day and night. Coming closer, being apart. Getting hungry, eating. Waking up, sleeping. The ebb and flow of any relationship, of life itself. Nature. If we let go of control and allow it to be natural everything is a flow.

And then came the rain. Pouring. Gushing down, and with a brisk wind to help it keep no spot dry. Nature surrenders. This beautiful let go, acceptance, the path of no resistance.

As rain brings us indoors and inside, we settle into silence. Restlessness gives way for quiet harmony.

Waves of love:

Supported by the Rebirthing process, a breathing technique that helps us open up to our own life energy, we go deeper into silence. Now, we have a chance to know ourselves without so many 'additives' from the outside world, and in the process we experience moments of clarity and understanding.

This front to front meeting with ourselves, this task of becoming empty, is not a path for the weak. It takes courage to see what is.  One friend shared that she had found a small flower called Courage growing in her heart, and that it's surname was Surrender. Swaha commented that Courage and Surrender are the best companions on this journey of the inner world.

As we take care of ourselves by focusing our love, our energy and our softness inwards, we are all the time supported by the atmosphere of each other and Swaha. Being together and being alone at the same time. As we go deeper into silence and deeper into ourselves, more and more we can feel both ourselves and each other, the nature, the gentle wind, the birds singing, the dancing butterflies and flowers reaching for the sun.

The deeper we go into this space the more we experience that we are neither separate from each other nor from Existence. The deeper we go into ourselves, the more present we become here and now – more boundaries will disappear and we become one – with each other, with nature, and with the waves of love...

Waves of love:

We have just had two days without Satsang. Some people stayed in the area, either relaxing or going for a nature walk. Others chose to follow Swaha's "recommendation" to go shopping - to get it out of the system and be prepared for silence.

Now, we are entering two weeks of silence. This is a great opportunity to allow our focus to move from the outer to the inner, to study ourselves instead of others. Silence is a rare flower in the so called modern society, and Swaha reminded everybody, especially the new people, to be prepared to feel a little restless in the beginning.

Little by little the mind will slow down and the restlessness will decrease. It then becomes more and more easy to stay alert and to catch our habits and unconscious actions.

Swaha invited us to become aware of the little things. Like how we brush our teeth, how we walk and how we eat. He asked us to be gentle with ourselves and to allow ourselves just to be still whenever we have the opportunity.

Simply relax and watch - sit by the ocean, float in the water, lay on the grass, get in touch with none-doing.

Waves of love:

Today our Beloved gave us a beautiful image for raising our children.

He compared it with pottery. You put one hand on the inside and one on the outside and with balance to both sides you gently shape the clay. For the inside you teach the child about love, compassion and meditation. For the outside intelligence, knowledge and responsibility. And with this nurturing of both the inside and the outside you give the child the space to blossom.

The first part of the retreat is over, leaving us in gratitude for a new depth of joy, recreated friendliness with our Selves and contentment being the celebration.

Waves of love:

Unfolding is a deep softening, a presence and being. Precious meetings in love, kindness and compassion invites an intimacy with our selves. Supported by the groups and meditations, the invitation is to go deeper into this soft space and to embrace ourselves with love.

Today Swaha reminded us to be aware how the ego always wants to escape from this 'dangerous' space, this reality of truth. In this space the ego starts trembling. It feels it is loosing its power, and the only way it can survive is to make us go back to the known - to our past. In order to be free of it, we have to face this challenge and take stance. We have to be ready to, humbly yet bravely, look at ourselves and recognize our own situation, whatsoever it is. Only with this openness to change is it possible to move beyond our ego.

So we have a choice, to let go of what is making us restless or to go back to our padded cells, where we may feel safe, but where there is no freedom.

Waves of love:

As a gentle breeze caresses our naked skin, faces soften, eyes turn inwards and walking becomes a slow walz. Silence is slowly drifting us to the shores of our Selves.

There is nothing to do but to relax and enjoy being. Present with ourselves, with nature and with life itself we are dancing on waves of love.

Waves of love:

Today our Beloved spoke about the path of Sannyas and reminded us that this is a sacred path.

It is up to us what to do with it, we all have to walk our own path, but we have to stand up for it.

Once we wake up it is very uncomfortable to be with sleepy people, who have never seen the sunrise, who do not trust their own legs for dancing and who never bow down to smell the flowers. Then it is better to stay alone.

So Swaha reminded us to keep coming back to this sacred path whenever life's little 'things' have distracted us away from it. Because all other paths lead us away from ourselves. The only path that takes us home is the path of grace.

And so we are together again, with ourselves and our beloved Master. In warm and sunny Ibiraquera, Swaha will have good help from the sun in his cooking.

In this first Satsang of the retreat, Swaha invited us to come home, to ourselves, to this silent place inside that is always available to us but which we have forgotten or lost sight of. Swaha invites us to let go of the competition, worries and stress of the society and outside world and take this time to be with ourselves. To rest. To come home.

In this retreat mornings are silent. So already from the first day silence is knocking on the door...

Everyday we will put the Satsang from the day before here on the News page.
