Embracing Silence

Meditation is not a doing. It is an allowing.

People ask me how to meditate.
You only know how to do things, but meditation can only happen when all doing stops. Then you are helpless.
They ask me how to go in. That means that you only know how to go out.
You are already in. The meditation is already there. The silence is already there. The awareness is already there. But you are not aware of it, because we are all trained to be outside. And there’s so many thoughts, ideas, desires, that take you away from yourself, from this moment, which is where meditation happens.”

It needs a certain maturity. An understanding that your desires will not fulfil you, your dreams will not fulfil you. That is difficult to understand before you have lived and experienced life. That understanding – either you have to have it with you from past lives, or you have to go through many things in life. And through that insight, you start looking in.”

Many times I say that part of my work is to stop you. That stopping can only happen when you find something that you love. When you fall in love, you stop. Because you have found something that is more valuable than your mind dreams. Again, that cannot happen if that shift from the head to the heart hasn’t happened. As soon as you have access to your heart, it will start calling you back. Your heart, your presence is not interested in becoming something. It is only interested in beingness, in resting in that presence. In that love, in that clarity.
